FRIENDS is an E.P. of music written for my musician friends, about my non-musician friends. These musician friends, who all perform on the E.P., include Luke Byrne (Muriel’s Wedding), Martyn Hentschel (AOBO), Stefania Kurniawan (SSO), Pete Leung (The Music Box Project), Samantha Mailer (Sydney Contemporary Orchestra), and Adranne Teh (Willoughby Symphony).
FRIENDS consists of four new contemporary classical pieces, each with strong melodic quality and a subtle sense of humour that harks back to my earlier musical theatre works. Taking inspiration from rock-climbing, Disney sing-alongs, kids’ TV-shows, and intimate family conversations, FRIENDS explores and celebrates how the family we choose not only shapes an individual’s social decisions, but also their artistic ones.

ALL PROCEEDS OF SALE WILL BE DONATED TO THE CANCER COUNCIL AUSTRALIA
In 2014 babylon was conceived as an electro-acoustic devised in collaboration with Paea Leach (choreographer and performer) and Jodie McNeilly (dramaturg). The project for me became a way for me to reconcile with moving to a Sydney - a new place with new people.
In particular it is a work that musically responds to the Waterloo Housing Commission buildings. The buildings are slated to be demolished in 2018, and the people living in them removed from the area. This frankly sucks, as they've built a thriving community, in spite of the daily hardships they face. I hope that this work highlights the issues of social housing and wealth inequality in some way.
As I was relatively new in town I wanted to involve people I'd come to know in Sydney - one of them was Diana Perini. Diana passed away of cancer in 2016. All proceeds of sale of babylon will be donated to Cancer Council Australia to help in the fight against cancer, and to help support those living with its shadow.
